Congressional Schools students participate in White House workshop

First Lady Michelle Obama speaks to students.

Eighth-grade students at the Congressional Schools of Virginia in Falls Church had an amazing experience April 14, when they were invited to an “In Performance at the White House” workshop hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama.

About 130 students from middle schools, high schools, and colleges from around the county were invited to the workshop on the history of gospel music and its influence on other music genres. The presenters included Robert Santelli, executive director of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, and performers Rodney Crowell, Rhiannon Giddens, Darlene Love, and Lyle Lovett.

  1. What a great opportunity! I read that kids throughout the county (not country) were invited, so we are lucky to live here and have access to programs at the White House.

  2. It's a great idea to support all these students because it will help them a lot, great event
