Craft Gallery to close temporarily while Packard Center is remodeled

The Craft Gallery of Artisans United is temporarily closing Sept. 20 while the Fred M. Packard Center, where it is housed, will be remodeled. The Packard Center, at 4022 Hummer Road, Annandale, is next to Hidden Oaks Nature Center.

The Craft Gallery is expected to reopen in early November, just in time for the holidays, and some sort of reopening ceremony is in the works. If you want to be invited, Artisans United would like to hear from you.
The Craft Gallery offers a retail space for local artists and crafters to sell their works, such as needlework, jewelry, cards, turned wood, beadwork, painted silk, quilts, and stained glass. It is run by Artisans United, a nonprofit cooperative organization, whose members host craft shows and demonstrations at the Packard Center.

You still have about a week to visit the gallery before work begins on remodeling the Packard Center. It’s open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 12-4 p.m. Sunday.

The remodeling also will displace several other organizations housed at the Packard Center, including the Arts Council of Fairfax County  and the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations. The federation will meet temporarily at Braddock Hall, 9002 Burke Lake Road in Burke.
