Daycare provider arrested for assault
Police arrested the operator of a home daycare provider in Bailey’s Crossroads for assaulting two children.
Detectives from the FCPD’s Child Abuse Squad learned Sumy Shah, 47, of Alexandria, had assaulted children at the county-licensed at-home daycare she ran at the 3600 block of Paul Street.
On multiple occasions, she restrained the victims using tape.
Detectives obtained two counts of misdemeanor assault and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Shah turned herself in on Aug. 20 and was held on an unsecured bond. She has since been released.
