D.C.-based company buys office building in Mason District

ABC Imaging has closed on a deal to purchase an office building in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, and will move its 150 employees from Washington, D.C., to the Mason District. [The information reported here is from the Washington Business Journal.]
ABC Imaging purchased the 48,000-square foot building, at 5290 Shawnee Road, from Cafferty Commercial Real Estate Services for $6.1 million to serve as its headquarters. The building had been vacant since its last tenant, Lockheed Martin, moved out last summer. The property is between Edsall Road, Braddock Road, and Interstate 395.
ABC Imaging does specialty printing, such as digital blueprints, banners, posters, photo retouching for advertising, 3D printing, and laser engraving at sites across the country and office in Dubai, London, Frankfurt, Germany, and Shanghai, China.
The company’s CEO Medi Falsafi decided ABC needed its own building after the landlord of its current space at 1125 21st St., N.W, made interior changes so the company offices were left with no windows. He wanted to stay in D.C. but was unable to find a suitable property. Mason Supervisor Penny Gross, the Virginia Governor’s Opportunity Fund, and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority helped facilitate the move to Fairfax County.
This is literally across the street from the building I work in… it's a pretty nice office development.
