Del. Kory seeks input on legislation
Annandale’s representative in the General Assembly, Del. Kaye Kory, plans to file several pieces of legislation during the 2011 session, most likely on these topics: government accountability and transparency, tax incentives to promote renewable energy use, increasing funds for mass transit, restricting the uses of campaign funds, protecting citizens’ voting rights, improving K-12 education, and protecting students’ health and safety.
Kory would like to express appreciation to the constituents and advocacy groups who have made suggestions for legislation and seeks additional comments, via e-mail, on proposed legislation or other issues.
All requests for drafts of potential legislation to be submitted for the next General Assembly session must be “prefiled” by Monday, Dec. 6. Those requests will be returned for review by Dec. 31, and drafts of legislation to be prefiled must be submitted to the Clerk of the House by 10 a.m., Jan. 12. Each legislator is permitted to prefile up to 15 bills before that deadline and another five after Jan. 12.
