Dog daycare opens Monday in Barcroft Plaza
Playful Pack, a new daycare and boarding center for dogs, opens in Barcroft Plaza on Feb. 3.
The community is invited to an open house on Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Visitors can bring their dogs, tour the facility, meet the team, sign up for a free temperament evaluation for dogs, and get two free days of daycare. The center is located at 6464-C Lincolnia Road.
Playful Pack offers doggy daycare daily for up to 30 dogs from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Dogs must undergo a complete evaluation before they are accepted. Staff will determine whether they have any aggression or anxiety issues and whether they are comfortable around other dogs, says manager Alexis Vega.
The center has two indoor open play areas with equipment and enclosed “condos” for dogs who need a break and for overnight stays. Dogs will be separated into groups based on size, activity levels, and temperament.
“Staff members play with the dogs to keep them stimulated and active,” Vega says. “Playtivity” time can include dog-safe bubbles, tunnels, a disco party, storytime, and “puppuccino” treats with whipped cream
A full day at the center is $38; four hours or less is $26. Meals are $5 if prepared by staff or $3 if clients bring their own food. Boarding is $68 a night. Dogs can stay as long as their owners want.
Playful Pack also has locations in Rosslyn, McLean, Alexandria, Leesburg, D.C., Rockville, Annapolis, Texas, and South Carolina.
