The judges had a really tough time selecting the winners of the best-dressed pet contest at the Taste of Annandale Oct. 13. Dozens of creatively outfitted dogs showed up for the contest, which was sponsored by Chico’s Natural Pet Market.

The first-place winner in the overall best-costume was Dobie a poodle decked out in a Korean culture costume. Coming in second, was Liso the punk rocker dog.

In the most creative category, Simba, a male husky dressed as a bride was the first-place winner, and Marti, wearing a dessert costume was the second-place winner.

Chico’s owner Danielle Areco selected Wilma, the bulldog frog, as the “Danielle’s pick” winner. All the winners got large gift baskets from Chico’s and everyone who entered received a gift, too.

The pet contest couldn’t have happened without the professional judges: Teri Thorsteinson, the owner of the fashionable Cornish Rex known as Coco the Couture Cat; Diane Roadcap, the animal communicator; and Giovanna D, the creator of the Embark! YouTube channel and the owner of Willie, who’s running for mayor of Annan-tail.
