Dominion will pay customers $20 for an old fridge

Thinking of getting a new refrigerator?

Dominion Energy will pay customers $20 to pick up old refrigerators or freezers that are in working order but use more electricity than newer or more efficient models.

According to Dominion, this program will help customers reduce their energy use and save an average of $150 a year in energy costs. Refrigerators and freezers must be at least 10 years old and have a capacity of 10 to 32-cubic feet.

Units picked up through the program will be transported to an appliance recycling facility operated by Recleim LLC. Recleim safely removes harmful materials from obsolete appliances and sells the rest of the materials for use in a variety of products, such as laptops, cell phones, concrete mix, and soda cans.

To schedule a pickup, call 877-785-6681.

  1. This looks like one of Mason's yard sales. God help us, now we are going to see a bunch of friges sitting at the curb waiting for Dominion to pick these up.

    1. If you have an old model fridge that's still working, don't give it up. I made that mistake two fridges ago. The old models use more juice, but they run forever. – Sparky

  2. Third Party will take weeks to pick up the fright. We will see Adam how good they are when someone drops a frig on your property and your little dog too! Or they may just drop a truckload of friges and turn your yard into a used appliance fair.
