When it comes to holiday shopping, let’s not forget
the older folks shut away in assisted living facilities. Home Instead Senior Care, the Annandale-based franchise that provides in-home services to the
elderly, makes it easy with its Be a Santa to a Senior program.
Home Instead has “adopted” the residents of five
local senior communities: Lincolnia Senior Apartments, Sleepy Hollow Manor, Morris Glen, Commonwealth, and Mount Vernon House, says Amy Podboy
Reynolds, recruitment and retention coordinator.

There are collection points around the area where
people can pick up tags with the name of a senior and his or her gift request
and drop off presents for them at the same location. In the Annandale area, you
can pick up the names of seniors on a Christmas tree in the back room of the Juke Box Diner and in baskets of ornaments at Smith & Clarkson Deli in the
Ravensworth Shopping Center and Curves for Women at the Barcroft Shopping Center.
