Donations needed for local food pantry
The inventory at the Annandale Christian Community for Action’s food pantry is down, while the demand is increasing.
To help fill the shelves, the office of Mason Supervisor Andres Jimenez is accepting donations of non-perishable food.
Donations can be dropped off 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Mason District Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike.
Food can also be dropped off at the ACCA food pantry Tuesday-Friday, 1:30-4 p.m. The pantry is located in a white trailer at 7200 Columbia Pike in Annandale to the left of the ACCA Child Development Center.
Another way to help: Contribute to Fairfax County’s Stuff the Bus event. A bus will be parked in front of the Annandale Giant, 7137 Columbia Pike, on March 16, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Food donations dropped off at the bus will go to the ACCA Food Pantry.
Some of the most needed items include bar soap, canned chicken, cereal, instant coffee, diced tomatoes, flour, laundry soap, and paper towels. See the complete list here.
Why no canned beans? Also what about stuff in glass jar like sauces?
Canned beans are specifically listed in the accompanying link.
The needed list includes “Canned Beans including Kidney, Pinto, Baked, Garbanzo (chickpeas)”
Meant black canned beans.
