Driver killed in crash in Annandale

There was a fatal crash on Backlick Road near John Marr Drive in central Annandale at about 2:15 a.m. this morning, according to a news bulletin from the Franconia Police District.

Maximiliano Ponce-Cruz, 27, of Annandale died at the scene after the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe he was driving southbound on Backlick failed to negotiate a curve just before John Marr, crossed a double yellow line, and struck a pole. Ponce Cruz was ejected from the vehicle.

According to the police, “Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash. Preliminary investigation suggests Ponce-Cruz was not wearing a seat belt.”

  1. Why would Franconia be releasing a statement? If the moderator was from around here she would know that this wouldn't have occurred going southbound.

  2. Franconia is the station that covers that area, not Mason District.

Sheesh, everyone is going after the Annandale Blogger today…Halloween?

    1. I concur with the comment I saw on another article, I have learned more about Annandale from this blog than any other source. Annandale Blogger has a right to her political views. It's the place I come to find out what the opposition is thinking.
