El Habanero now open in Annandale

Annandale’s newest dining spot, El Habanero Taqueria Bar
& Grill, opened yesterday at 7321 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, with a
big crowd and a live broadcast on La Nueva 8.77 FM radio station.

The restaurant serves less-common traditional Mexican
dishes, along with standard fare like fajitas, quesadillas, and nachos.
You can get tacos with tripe, sausage, beef tongue, beef
head, chorizo, and marinated pork, as well as beef and chicken.
One of the entrees, bistec a la Mexicana has beef, spicy
tomato sauce, sliced tomatoes and onions, serrano pepper, and cilantro and
comes with rice, avocado, beans, and tortillas. It’s $14.95.
Quesadillas
Another entrée, traditional Mexican pozole rojo pollo
($12.95), is hominy and chicken topped with shredded lettuce, diced radish, with
two tostadas.
There’s a full bar, a kids’ menu, and breakfast dishes. The restaurant occupies the building  that formerly housed TitleMax, and before that, Jerry’s Subs & Pizza.
