from the front and rear entrances. The Falls Church News-Press reports three people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The explosion is believed to be accidental and possibly caused by a gas leak.
According to WUSA, police were called to the scene to respond to reports of a shooting, but instead found a fire and explosion. The incident happened inside a store, not in a common area, says Eden Center Manager Alan Frank, but it isn’t known which store.
A report on ARLnow says units on the scene said the explosion might have started in a utility closet in a jewelry store and that the windows of the Princess Diamonds store seem to have been blown out.
The Falls Church fire marshal later ruled the fire accidental and was caused by the improper use of propane and oxygen.
