Fairfax Connector takes over Annandale bus routes
The 3A Metrobus, seen here on Annandale Road, will be replaced by a new Fairfax Connector bus route. |
The Fairfax Connector bus service is taking over five old Metrobus routes as of July 10, including three routes that serve the Annandale area.
The new Connector route 803 will replace Metrobus route 3A. It runs from Patriot Drive in Annandale, mostly along Annandale Road, to the East Falls Church Metro Station.
There are stops at Little River Turnpike/Annandale Road; Hickory Hill Road/Graham Road, and Hillwood Avenue. On weekends, it will stop at the Seven Corners Transit Center.
Route 803 will operate every 30 minutes during weekday rush hours, every 40 to 60 minutes during weekday non-rush hours, and every 45 minutes on weekends.
Weekday eastbound service on route 803 starts at 5:35 a.m. at Patriot Drive/Americana Drive. The last eastbound bus on weekdays leaves Patriot/Americana at 8:45 p.m.
The new Connector route 834 will replace Metrobus route 29C, and the new Connector route 835 replaces Metrobus route 29W. Both 29C and 29W had been discontinued.

Route 834 runs on weekday mornings from Little River Turnpike/Lake Drive to the Pentagon Metro Station with stops at Little River Turnpike/John Marr Drive, Little River/Braddock Road, and Little River/Oasis Road.
Route 835 runs on weekday mornings from Northern Virginia Community College at Lake Drive to the Pentagon Metro Station, with stops at Braeburn Drive/Guinea Road and Duncan Drive/Holborn Avenue.
Both 834 and 835 will provide weekday rush-hour service every 30 minutes. The fare for both routes is $4.75 for express service. The base fare for regular trips on non-express routes is $2 ($1 for seniors).
The new Connector Route 703 serves Pimmit Hills and replaces Metrobus route 3T. Connector route 715, replacing Metrobus route 15K, will connect the East Falls Church Metro station and Langley.
The new routes serve approximately 69,000 residents and provide access to more than 36,000 jobs in Fairfax County.
Fairfax Connector is also making service changes in five existing Connector routes that don’t serve the Annandale/Mason District area.
According to the Fairfax County Department of Transportation, the route changes take into account public input offered at virtual community meetings last fall and through an online survey.

There’s a typo on the express fare here. The express fare is actually $4.25, not $4.75; that fare is for Route 835 only, as Route 834 is regular fare ($2).
