Fairfax County Democrats fail to endorse Moon for school board

After
20 years on the Fairfax County School Board, Ilryong Moon will not appear on
the ballot on Election Day in November.
That’s
because Moon got the least votes from members of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee at an endorsement meeting May 21. There were four contenders seeking the Democratic endorsement for the three at-large seats on the school board.

The
top vote-getters were Karen Keys-Gamarra (with 766 votes), Abrar Omeish (756), and Rachna Sizemore-Heizer (735). Moon got 634 votes. FCDC members could vote for up three candidates.
Keys-Gamarra
is the only incumbent among the three. She joined the school board after
winning a special election in August 2017. She told the audience at the FCDC meeting that
one of her priorities is ensuring that all schools and students receive
equitable resources.

large crowd of energetic high school students for her campaign team.

an experienced education activist started out as an advocate for her own
children and went on to secure policy changes to benefit
all students.
They will be on the Nov. 5 ballot, along with the school board candidates endorsed by the Democrats for the supervisory districts and the candidates endorsed by the Fairfax County Republicans.

I'm writing in Moon's name on election day. – Sparky
Isn't the School Board officially non-partisan? Why would this keep him off the ballot. I'm not necessarily a voter for Moon but it seems weird that the political parties are able to control the candidates for our School Board.
