The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department’s Toys for Tots campaign will be a little different this year.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, collection boxes will be outside, rather than inside, each county fire station.
The public is invited to drop off new, unwrapped toys for children every day until 8 p.m. through Dec. 13. The program serves toddlers through 17-year-olds. Toy weapons will not be accepted.
Toys for Tots, an annual program sponsored by the Marines, is aimed at bringing some holiday joy to less fortunate children. Last year, the fire department collected 12,000 toys.
