Fairfax County issues new vaccine dashboard

The Fairfax County Health Department has launched a COVID-19 vaccination dashboard that helps people understand why it’s taking so long for people who registered to get an appointment.

The new dashboard provides information on when vaccinations are being scheduled for people who registered on a certain date, the number of people remaining on the waitlist, the total number registered, the number of doses received from the Virginia Department of Health, and the number of doses administered by Fairfax County.

Another online tool, the vaccine registration status checker, lets people look up the date when they registered.

As of Feb. 12, the dashboard provides this information:

  • Vaccination appointments are currently being made for people who registered on Jan. 18.
  • On Jan. 18, 41,758 people registered. Another 18,387 registered on Jan. 19, 8,257 on Jan. 20, and 8,215 registered on Jan. 21.
  • Of the 213,928 who have registered, 107,505 remain on the waitlist.
  • The Fairfax Health District has received 114,875 doses from the Virginia Health Department.
  • Fairfax County has provided 100,113 first and second doses. Nearly 35 percent of those doses were administered by the Health Department; the rest were distributed to other vaccinators.

The Health Department is planning to send weekly updates soon to everyone on the waitlist.

The Virginia Department of Health is launching a statewide vaccine pre-registration system. However, the Fairfax Health District won’t be participating, so eligible people are advised to register for a vaccine with the Fairfax County Health Department instead.

  1. This is a big step in keeping people informed about the status of their vaccine applications. I still have reservations about how efficient Fairfax County is since I am hearing from friends all over Virginia that they have already been vaccinated, but I am glad that there appears to be hope and a more definite timeline.

  2. Good news, I received FFX alert today with a link to check my registration status. When I did, it noted that the county sent me an email on 2/5 to schedule appt. I checked my emails again, it was titled "Notice of Appointment Confirmation. " I hit the link and BAM I scheduled a vaccine appointment for this Sunday at the Government Center! Wohooo!

  3. Got my first vaccine today at the Government Center. It was very organized and efficient. I was in and out in 30mins.
