Fairfax County Park Authority proposes fee hikes

Green Spring Gardens: a popular
setting for wedding photos

The Fairfax County Park Authority is proposing to raise fees for park users, including an 8 percent across-the-board increase for all of the recreation centers, including the Audrey Moore RECenter in Annandale.

That translates to the basic fee for adults who live in Fairfax County would rise from $6.85 to $7.40 and the monthly pass for county residents would increase from $67.75 to $73.

Among other fee increases, affecting parks in the Annandale area: Private rentals of the miniature golf course at Lake Accotink would increase from $75 to $100. Greens fees would be extra. And for the first time, the Parks Authority would charge for private photography sessions (such as wedding party photos) at Green Spring Gardens and other parks. The fee would be $100 for two hours and $50 per additional hour.

Members of the public can comment on the proposed fees at a Park Authority meeting Feb. 2, 7 p.m., in the Herrity Building, Room 106, 12055 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax. You can also submit comments via e-mail. The comment period ends Feb. 15.
