Police indict suspect in 2008 triple homicide
Fairfax County Police Chief David Rohrer and federal prosecutors announced today that Delante T. Cook, 34, of Prince George,s County, Md., has been indicted by a federal grand jury for his role in the home invasion robbery that resulted in the three stabbing murders in Springfield in November 2008.
According to the police, it was a targeted crime, not a random event.
The victims, Terence J. Strope, 38, his brother Ryan C. Strope, 26, and their friend Andres A. Yelicie, 26, lived in a rented brick rambler in the Ravensworth Farm neighborhood, just off Braddock Road, the Washington Post reported.
On Nov. 19, 2008, at about 9:40 p.m., Yelicie ran from the house and collapsed on the front steps of a house across the street, bleeding heavily from at least two stab wounds, neighbors said. Police found the Strope brothers inside the house, and all three died at Inova Fairfax Hospital later that night.
The indictment is really good news, says Capt. Gun Lee, commander of the Mason District Police Station.
