Farewell to the Lacey Center

The Lacey Center is almost all gone. The building at the end of Crest Drive in Annanadale that used to house a Fairfax County Public Schools administrative center is being removed to clear the way for a new elementary school. The new school is slated to open for the start of the 2012 school year. FCPS field construction representative Joseph Krzywicki says construction will start as soon as the old building is torn down and the debris is cleared away. School and community representatives serving on the FCPS Annandale Regional Planning Study are exploring options for setting the attendance boundary for the new school, as well as whether it should be K-5 or K-6 and how to relieve overcrowding at Annandale High School and other area schools.

  1. This was originally Masonville Elementary School.

My little brother went there, and I spent many summer days there playing indoor and outdoors games and arts and crafts as part of their open community summer program.

  2. Wow what a deep cut guys, Mother worked for the school system. Must have ran around this building several times as a kid. Because my Mom was a higher up non of the employees there were allowed to look me in the eye and had to what I say. Man did I enjoy that, it taught me that holding power over others is one of the most important things in life. Everything is about power. So sad to see this institution, like many others, crumbling away into dust. Great memories!
