Farmers markets open this week

The Wakefield Farmers Market opens Wednesday, May 5, at 2 p.m. It’s located in Wakefield Park, 8100 Braddock Road, Annandale.

It will be open every Wednesday, 2-6 p.m., through Oct. 27.

The Annandale Farmers Market, in Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia Pike, opens Thursday morning. It will be open every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon, through Nov. 4.

There are COVID-19 guidelines in place in all farmers markets operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Everyone age 2 and up must wear a mask. Only one customer may approach a vendor stall at a time. Customers may not touch the goods, and vendors will not offer samples.

Customers are encouraged to order directly from vendors online and pick up their items at the market. Click here for more information.

  1. The City of Alexandria hosts a year-round farmers market at Southern Towers, just up the way at Seminary Road across from the big hotel. The market is usually large – especially in the summer – and has some amazing quality produce. It compares favorably with the FC farmers markets, although it is organized differently: they have a manager who brings in vendors but has a single point-of-sale. Still, some very good items are available there – Saturday mornings, I believe.
