Farmers markets to host cooking demos
The Wakefield farmers market. |
Learn how to make healthy meals from the fresh ingredients available at Fairfax County farmers markets. The new Chef at Market cooking demonstration series takes place during August at four farmers markets across the county, including the one at Wakefield Park (Aug. 14, 2:30-3:30 p.m.) and the Annandale market at Mason District Park (Aug. 22, 10:30-11:30 a.m.).
The cooking demonstrations will be conducted by Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Food Volunteers. Most of the recipes use fewer than five ingredients and don’t use heavy seasoning. Recipe cards will be available so you can create the dishes at home.
The Wakefield market is open every Wednesday, 2-6 p.m., through Oct. 30. The Annandale market is open on Thursdays, 8 a.m.-noon, through Nov. 7.
