The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived. Preliminarily, detectives believe the victims were walking together in the area. A vehicle approached, and the suspects inside the vehicle began shooting at the victims. Detectives do not believe this was a random act.

Both teens are being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.

The 14-year-old victim was identified on NBC4 as Elvis Anderson Grande Gonzalez. A GoFundMe page has been set up to collect donations for funeral expenses.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting and are asking the community to review any home surveillance footage in the area to assist in the investigation.

the two teens were not residents of Fairmont Gardens, although they lived nearby.

  1. 14?!?!?!

14 years old? and a 16 year old? out at 1130 PM? Walking through Wadsworth Court?

What is wrong with this town?

    1. What’s wrong with their parents? That’s my question. There’s no way in hell my parents would’ve let me be outside at that hour when I was their age.

    2. Your comment is ridiculous. Kids should be able to walk freely through their neighborhood at anytime without having to worry about their safety. How do you know they weren’t walking home from playing sports? The lights on the basketball court at Ossian go off at 11. How do you know if the 16 year old just got off work from his part time job and the 14 year old came outside to talk to his friend? You don’t. You wouldn’t be saying anything if it happened in another neighborhood

      1. You’re clearly not familiar with Wadsworth Court. No one is safe, especially not kids, especially not at night, especially not kids at night. You want the police to crack down? How’d you vote?

      2. KT – ideally, yes. But do you honestly think that our neighborhood is safe enough for kids, let alone for any normal adults, to walk around feeling completely safe nowadays at night? If you think so, you’re being delusional. I don’t know what kind of a parent you are (or if you’re a child yourself), but if I had a kid, I will not let them roam freely around midnight like that. If they want to play basketball, they can do that before the sun goes down. If they want to have a part-time job, a minor should not be working very late night shifts. Your job as a parent is to take REASONABLE measures to protect your child. Letting minors roam a dangerous neighborhood ridden with drugs and violence around midnight is a NEGLIGENCE on the part of adults/parents.

      3. KT the only reason why anyone would be walking around at that hour at Wadsworth Court [and he wasn’t a resident] is if you are up to no good. Plain and simple.

  2. I think Annandale and some other high crime places should consider adopting what the National Harbor did – set curfews to minors after certain hours, at least on Fridays and weekends. I was hesitant to hear the news at first since, you know, “freedom” – but it seems that after implementing the program, the residents and businesses all around are happy with the results. I hope the community and leaders should consider this measure, given the amount of big and small problems that is infesting this community recently. While it won’t eliminate the problems, it will hopefully reduce them. Here is the link to the article.

  3. As long as those ultra-violent murderers are out and about, we are not safe. They must be caught and behind bars… for life!

  4. Given that the suspects live near by that gives me the shivers. Everyone in Mason is fare game.

Arrest the parents: why were they not watching their offspring; why did they fail to teach them right from wrong; where did they get these guns?

These are children w guns; where are the parents in this matter? Put the parents behind bars and there would be a huge decline in teenage gun crime. There is precedence for this penalty and it should be enforced. Descano enough w your catch and release…….do your job or send them to El Salvador where the laws are now seriously enforced and their crime rate is lower than ours.
