FCPS School Board approves scaled-back plan on AAP centers
A FCPS staff report had recommended putting an AAP center in every middle school and adding centers to more elementary schools. Many of the Mason parents who attended a meeting on the AAP center proposal
convened by school board member Sandy Evans in December expressed concerns about it.
The new AAP centers to open next fall will be at South County Middle School and Lemon Road, Navy, and Westbriar elementary schools. The new elementary school centers would be established to relieve overcrowding at the AAP centers at Haycock, Hunters Woods, and Louise Archer elementary schools. The school board also directed Superintendent Jack Dale to conduct an analysis of the FCPS Advanced Academic Services program by June 30.
This is a bummer for the Annandale pyramid.
