A fire at the Woodlake Tower Condominium in Seven Corners on Oct. 31 was caused by an overloaded multi-plug adapter in the dining room, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reports.
The fire affected a unit on the third floor of a 10-story building in the 3100 block of S. Manchester Street. Firefighters from Fairfax County were dispatched at 4 p.m. and were followed by units from Arlington and Alexandria. There were no injuries.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Four occupants were displaced. They declined assistance from the Red Cross.
A resident of another unit activated the building’s fire alarm system. The apartment did not have any working smoke alarms.
Damages as a result of the fire are estimated at $27,500, but that doesn’t include water damage to other areas of the building.
