Fire damages Broyhill Crest home

A fire damaged a house in the 7400 block of Valleycrest Boulevard in Annandale March 29, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reports.
When firefighters arrived shortly after 6:30 a.m., fire was showing from the roof of the one-story, single-family home in Broyhill Crest.
Fire investigators determined the fire was accidental and was caused by an electrical event involving household wiring in the attic. No one was injured.
One occupant who was home at the time saw smoke coming from the end of the roof and called 911. Smoke alarms sounded after the fire was discovered. The occupant declined assistance from the Red Cross. Damages were estimated at $70,000.
