Fire damages house on Renwood Lane, Annandale

A house at 6535 Renwood Lane, Annandale, was badly damaged by fire early on the morning of Dec. 11. The owners were out of town at the time. Sheila Brackett said she rushed home from Alabama as soon as she heard about the fire.

Next-door neighbor Qamar Zaman, who was woken up in the middle of the night by fire engines, said the Brackett’s grown daughter was home at the time but was unhurt. It will take Fairfax County fire investigators a while to determine the cause of the fire.

In March 2006, an elderly couple, Edward and Alice O’Connor, perished in a fire on the same block of Renwood Lane. That fire was blamed on a lighted cigarette.
