Fire destroys kitchen in Annandale townhome
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department says a townhouse fire on Feb. 10 in Annandale was caused by combustibles left on an electric range that were ignited after the burner was accidentally turned on.
No one was in the home when the fire started. The two-story, end-unit townhouse in the 7800 block of Trammell Court was being renovated at the time.
A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the windows and attic. No working smoke alarms were present due to the current stage of renovations.
Damages as a result of the fire are estimated at $93,750.
