Oct. 25 was “a tremendous success,” says AVFD President Gary Moore.
About 145 people came to the dinner at the Annandale Fire
Station on Columbia Pike, says Moore, and went through 300 pounds of crab legs and 100
pounds of shrimp. The event was a fundraiser for the two volunteer fire departments,
which are responsible for maintaining their fire stations, providing
firefighting equipment and emergency services, and educating the public about fire safety.
The AVFD hasn’t yet figured out how much money was raised. The event also featured a silent auction that included autographed
baseballs from the Nationals, a football from the Redskins, and a hockey puck
from the Capitals. “We got very positive feedback and hope to do it again,” he
says.

2.75 pounds per person? Gives me indigestion just thinking about it. (Although in fairness much of that weight was probably crab shells.)
I had a amazing time! The event was a huge success. The crabs and shrimp were delicious. I truly hope they do this again. Sign me up for next time.
Does anyone know the supplier of the crabs? I'd like to host something similar at our pool!
