‘Fondler’ assaulting women in Bailey’s Crossroads

Fairfax County Police are seeking tips from the public regarding a series of “forcible fondling incidents” that took place between March 22 and April 19 in busy shopping centers along Route 50 and Route 7 in Seven Corners, Bailey’s Crossroads, and the Skyline area.

Seven incidents were reported to police, says spokesperson Lucy Caldwell, although it’s likely there were more.

The suspect sneaks up behind the victims, grabs and fondles their buttocks or crotch area, then flees. No words have been exchanged in any of these incidents, which occurred between 2 and 9 p.m. The victims have all been females age 20-40 of various ethnicities. None of them have been physically injured.

These incidents have happened so quickly, the victims have been unable to provide any details other than the suspect is a male and about 5 feet, 6 to 8 inches tall. Because these crimes took place in crowded areas, detectives believe there might be witnesses who haven’t come forward.
