Free activities at rec center open house

The Fairfax County Park Authority invites the public to an open house at all nine of its rec centers on Monday, Sept. 9, for free admission and other fun activities for all ages.

The open house activities, 4:30-7:30 p.m., feature free drop-in fitness classes, tours, information about personal training and membership packages, and more.

The Providence Rec Center, at 7525 Marc Drive, Falls Church, will have pool games, free swim lessons, karate demonstrations, 3D printing, kids’ crafts, basic bike maintenance, a display of students’ artworks, and free s’mores and popcorn.

Providence is also hosting free drop-in fitness classes on yoga (5:30-6:30 p.m.) and Zumba (6-7 p.m.) and creative balance and wellness workshops (4:30-5:30 p.m.). There will be information stations on total resistance exercise, Pilates, spin bikes, barre classes, yoga, meditation, and diabetes and nutrition.

The Audrey Moore Rec Center, at 8100 Braddock Road, Annandale, in Wakefield Park, will have arts and crafts projects and giveaways during the Sept. 9 open house.

The Park Authority is offering a 15 percent discount on new memberships and renewals during the month of September.
