Free summer meals available for children
Children enjoy a free lunch at Bailey’s Elementary School. |
No child should go hungry during the summer when the free and reduced-priced school meals program isn’t available.
That’s the idea behind Fairfax County Public Schools’ free summer meals program operated by the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at selected sites where there is a large proportion of lower-income families.
The FEEDS program (Food for Every every child to Eat During Summer) offers a free barbecue or super snack lunch to children up to age 18 at these locations in the Mason/Annandale area every weekday through Aug. 23:
- Bailey’s Elementary School (lower) – 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Bren Mar Park Elementary School – 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Vistas of Annandale – noon-1 p.m.
- Bailey’s Community Center – noon-1 p.m. (plus breakfast 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.)
- Willston Community Center – noon-1 p.m. (plus breakfast 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.)
- James Lee Community Center – noon-1 p.m. (plus breakfast 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.)
Children don’t need to register, and everyone is welcome. Low-cost meals are available for adults.
