One of the shops coming to the new Eastgate shopping center on John Marr Drive in Annandale combines two separate franchises that together offer a perfect snack – mochi donuts from Mochinut and yogurt-based smoothies from Yomie’s Rice x Yogurt.
Min Zheng, the franchise owner of both Mochinut and Yomie’s, anticipates an opening in October or November.
Yomie’s creates smoothies with fresh probiotic yogurt made in-house daily. “It’s combined with quality raw fruits and grains brought together to bring you new indulgence with less guilt,” Zheng says. Some varieties have purple rice or tea.
Yomie’s is a Chinese-based chain. The first store opened in Sydney, Australia, and there are now more than 100 outlets, mostly in Asia and California. The Annandale shop is the first one in the D.C. region.
Mochinut specializes in donuts made with rice flour with all kinds of sweet toppings. The shop also offers mochi-covered hot dogs. It’s a fast-growing chain with most locations in California. Mochinut shops are also planned for Centreville and Leesburg
