Get to know your local parks

The Fairfax County Park Authority wants Mason District residents to become better acquainted with their local parks.
Did you know there are 54 parks in the Mason District? The “On the Beadin’ Path” initiative rewards residents for visiting and learning about our parks.
Anyone age 3 or older can pick up an activity form at Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Green Spring Gardens, Providence RECenter, Pinecrest Golf Course, or the Mason Government Center.
If you can answer a question about the featured parks on the form, you’ll receive a collectible bead featuring one of the main parks in Mason District. Correctly answer five or more questions, and you’ll get a prize packet.
A kick-off event will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Mason District Park. A naturalist will lead a guided tour of the park’s interpretive trail, and there will be a special bead for attendees.
Additional kickoff activities will be held at the opening day of the Mason District Park farmers’ market on May 2, 9 a.m.-noon.
The On the Beadin’ Path in Mason District program is supported by the Fairfax County Park Foundation. The program runs through Aug. 19.
Wow, who would have know such beauty exists inside that park. Hard to tell from Columbia Pike. I must pay a visit.
It's a beautiful park! My husband and I enjoy the "Spotlight by Starlight" concerts from time to time. It's free! Last year's schedule is available here:
