Good news for bowlers

Despite all the rumors to the contrary, the Annandale Lanes bowling center on Markham Street will not be closing in the near future. A plan for a multistory development on that property has fallen apart, and the bowling center is under contract to remain open through the summer of 2010. AMF, the parent company, is negotiating a contract extension to keep the center open at least five more years, and possibly 10. Meanwhile, Annandale Lanes is planning to host free open houses during week days, and summer leagues will be starting in a few weeks.
