Goodwill store to open in a few weeks

Renovations are under way at the future Goodwill store

There have been a few renovation delays, so the opening of the Goodwill store in central Annandale has been pushed back a bit, reports Brendan Hurley, senior vice president for marketing and communications at Goodwill of Greater Washington. The company is planning a soft launch in late January and a grand opening  Feb. 9, 10 a.m.-noon..

The retail store and training center is located in the site formerly occupied by the Room Store in the Annandale Plaza shopping center on John Marr Drive. The store will begin accepting donations of used goods as soon as it opens. Meanwhile, you can drop off clothing and other items at a Goodwill trailer in the Kmart parking lot every day, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

  1. Not that I'm against providing helpful "vehicles" to aid folks in need, it's a good thing… but do they all have to be in Annandale!?!

Enough already! There's Salvation Army, Joseph's Coat, Treasure Trove of Annandale, and the various consignment shops that are prolific in our neighborhood. It's indoor "dumpster diving" in one easy location.

Local Leaders… Can't we do something to attract other types of businesses?
