Hamburger restaurant to open on Columbia Pike, Annandale

Dice Burger is coming to 7023 Columbia Pike, Annandale, in
the building that housed the now-closed Buenos Grill.
The new restaurant will have hamburgers, wings, kabobs,
soup, and salads, says the owner, Saeid Sanaei, who used to work at the Moby Dick House of Kabob at the Kingstowne Town Center in Alexandria. Beer and wine will be sold; cocktails might be
added later. At night, it will have a hookah bar.

Sanaei hopes the new restaurant could open as early as
January 2014. The building’s exterior won’t be changed much, but he wants to at
least redo the color scheme inside. Customers will order at a counter and
either eat at a table or take their food home.

Buenos Grill closed Aug. 30, just 10 months after it opened.

  1. As a lifetime NoVA resident, I certainly never expected Annandale to get a hookah bar … must be some of that city energy spilling down Columbia Pike. 😉

If they have good lunch specials and good coffee then they can sign me up as a regular!

  2. to anon 10:40

Please note we also have a local bike shop, and an independent coffee shop that roasts its own beans. Hipster heaven we may not be, but we do have these local indie businesses – I at least will make every effort to patronize them.

    1. 10:40 here

      > Hipster heaven we may not be

And thank goodness for that! Funny how the kids with the neon shoes and the track bikes unknowingly share a path with Mr. Get Off My Lawn – a more expensive, less human, themeparked built environment.

Drinking some Beanetics Sumatra as I type this …

    2. Im not sure what you mean. I grew up in a city and loved it. Id love if there were more authentic gritty city neighborhoods around here, but in their absence, I will gladly take a place like Mosaic or Clarendon. Dont care that its "themeparked" (and how are fake french baroque mansions, set amidst 50 yo fake colonials, not "theme parked") – that they are so expensive is because we have built so few of them and that is where the demand is today. I'm glad you like that Annandale is more human, but whenever I try to walk across the neighborhood, or even just across LRT, I find it painfully unfriendly to humans.

For some reason, the shopping center with the Beanetics doesn't have bike racks, or at least didn't last time I was there. But I guess if that keeps the hipsters out ….

  3. I'm not happy about the hookah bar — I probably will not be a patron of this place. Even if there are doors on the area of the hookah bar it will still smell. Too bad.

  4. You have to give everyone a chance. I don't smoke, but if the burgers are as tasty as the Moby Dick kabobs, I'm in! I hope they have the bread as well. Good luck : ) and welcome

  5. I was excited at having a good burger place in Annandale to replace Fuddrukkers, but i'm not into the hookah scene! I give them maybe 11 months, then the same fate as the buenos grill. You need to make a burger place to be family friendly to make it in this area, hookah is not family friendly!!(at least American family friendlly!!)

    1. Feed your kids @ 6p dinnertime & you'll be outta there by 8p (so yr kids dont start asking questions abt the "naughty smoke den"! 😮

  6. Second day of business; they will not last if they keep cooking burgers and setting them on a warming platter until they are ready to be served. Great fries, burgers are flame broiled, but they need to be served right off the grill, mine was actually COLD, good flamed flavor though; oh, and they lost our order, took over 30 minutes for a cold burger and great fries.

  7. Went last weekend. Was ok. Flame grilled pre made patties. Good fries service pretty good. Clean restaurant and restroom. Place was empty only 1 person other than me and my buddy. Hope it makes a go of it. Nice to have a non Korean place besides Silverados and fast food joints. I'll probably go again.
