Health fair promotes smart nutrition

The Kids in the Kitchen Health Fair at the Mosaic District in Merrifield April 12 was aimed at promoting healthy eating habits, raising awareness about nutrition, combating obesity, and encouraging children to participate in regular physical activity.

The event, staged in front of Mom’s Organic Market and Red Apron Butcher, was the fifth annual kids’ health event sponsored by the Junior League of Northern Virginia, said Candice Bennett of the Junior League.
There were fitness demonstrations including Zumba and the INTotal Health Truck for kids to dance, along with various interactive booths and healthy snacks. It was a great way to bring families, nutrition, and exercise together.
