A family on Guintican Island, Philippines, in front of a ShelterBox tent next to the ruins of their house destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan.

Do you want to help the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines? Or refugees from the conflict in Syria? Annandale High School is teaming up with the Rotary Club of Annandale to raise funds for ShelterBox, an organization that provides tents and emergency supplies to victims of natural disasters and wars.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, ShelterBox  representatives will be at the boys’ basketball season opener at AHS to collect contributions from the public. The junior varsity games is at 5:45 p.m.; the varsity game is 7:30 p.m. Come cheer on the Atoms and help AHS reach its $1,000 goal.

  1. The Rotary Club set up a ShelterBox in hallway outside the gym at Annandale High School Dec. 3 and raised about $350. The AHS basketball team won its game, too.

If people want to contribute to ShelterBox, the cost for each box is $1,000. If people want to make any contribution, that would be great. Payments should be made out to ShelterBox and mailed to Annandale Rotary Club, P.O. Box 143, Annandale, VA 22003.
