Help find Griffy
With most of us warm and cozy inside during the second major blizzard this week, our hearts go out to a lost little dog, Griffy, who ran away nearly weeks ago and has been signed at various locations in Annandale since then.
Griffy, a reddish brown four and a-half year-old male Brussels Griffon, weighs 18 pounds. He has uncropped, floppy ears and a docked tail. He was wearing a black leather Harley Davidson studded collar with a blue bone-shaped ID tag. Unfortunately he does not have an electronic tracking device.
He ran off about 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 22 when his owner, Gail Nefflen, was involved in a minor accident on Four Year Run near Annandale High School. Gail says Griffy is “really scared and elusive and is probably hunkered down somewhere.” He would probably go up to a child but not an adult.
Gail has done just about everything possible to try find Griffy. She has hired dog trackers, posted flyers all over Annandale, put out notices on various online message boards and Twitter, and even got a story on NBC news. She urges people to check their sheds, doghouses, and under their decks to see if he is hiding there. There is a reward for information leading to Griffy’s safe return.
A volunteer group called AWOL Dogs and a professional service called Pure Gold Trackers have been searching the area and have put out scent and feeding stations at various locations where Griffy has been spotted, including the Honey Pig restaurant, the church on Columbia Pike next to the Pizza Hut, Ossian Park, the shopping center with the Food Corner on Little River Turnpike, and the deck on a house near Annandale Terrace Elementary School.
If you find Griffy, please contact Gail at 571/278-9426 or [email protected].
Thank you for the post. I am one of the volunteers that has been helping with the search. As you know the snow has made it impossible for us to continue our ground efforts. It is so important that the word gets out!
Thanks again!
Nadene
I really hope this story has a happy ending. Keep us posted.
We have had 2 sightings in the past week. One was today off of Ravensworth Dr. He is still out there but he is a shaggy mess since he is weeks past his grooming time. He was seen walking down the street around 10 am!
Please call if you have seen him!
