Improvements under way at Heritage Mall parking lot
The parking lot at Heritage Mall is getting an upgrade.
The JSI Paving and Construction Co. is putting in islands
that will eventually have trees, handicapped parking spaces and ramps by the
CVS and H Mart, a new sidewalk on Commons Drive, and a regraded swale along
Heritage Drive, says foreman Luis Hernandez.

When that work is completed, the parking lot will be
reconfigured and restriped.

Also in the works: a new crosswalk at Heritage Drive and Rectory Lane to help nearby residents get to Ossian Hall Park and Annandale High School and a wider
sidewalk along Heritage Drive in front of the shopping center.

The parking lot improvements and crosswalk were part of the
proffer agreement when the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in June 2016 approved the Webb Cos.’
application to build 67 townhouses on the shopping center’s rear lot. That development, called Heritage Village, is under construction by Ryan Homes. Several townhomes have been completed.

I sure hope they can squeeze in some extra parking spaces…and eventually a traffic light at Heritage and Rectory? Turning left to get out of there is tricky!
