Inova opens family clinic in Annandale

Inova celebrated the grand opening of the Inova Cares for Families (ICF) clinic in Annandale on April 4.
The clinic is located in an office building at 7617 Little River Turnpike. It’s one of six ICF facilities in Northern Virginia.
ICF provides primary healthcare and medical care for families who qualify for Medicaid, Virginia’s Family Access to Medical Insurance Security Plan, or are uninsured.
The Annandale location will provide comprehensive primary care services, including sick and well visits, physicals, nurse case management, education and counseling for disease prevention, psychosocial support, and care coordination.

“Today’s opening reinforces Inova’s dedication to meeting our community’s healthcare needs and upholding our commitment to provide high-quality healthcare to each person in every community we are privileged to serve,” said Inova President and CEO Dr. J. Stephen Jones.
“Our Fairfax Community Health Needs Assessment clearly identified healthcare access as a top Annandale community health issue,” commented Karen Berube, Inova senior vice president for community health.
“We understand families face challenges accessing care for social and healthcare needs including obesity, nutrition, and mental health,” Berube said. “With this opening, we are assuring a medical home in the community to address immediate needs and cultivate long-term wellbeing.”
ICF has had significant growth over the last decade. The program served a total of 13,172 patients last year in all of its locations, including 1,936 pediatric patients.
Inova has been named the Health System of the Year by Press Ganey, a national leader in healthcare experience.
Wonderful we were waiting to get Inova care in our community. And here we are.
This clinic has existed at this location for many (around 10, at least). It has always been this same program, operated by INOVA. A few years ago it changed its name to INOVA CARES (sometimes billed as INOVA CARES FOR FAMILIES).
This article celebrating the Grand Opening is very confusing. I have been a patient there (this exact location) for a very long time until last year.
There must be more to the story.
its for patients who are uninsured or on Medicaid.
Yes, that’s what it has always been. This exact program has been operating in this exact location for many years. When I started going there about 10 years ago it had a slightly different name that I can’t remember. (It was the same clinic though: same place, same doctors and staff, for uninsured and Medicaid only.) About 4 years ago they changed the name to INOVA CARES, then right after that INOVA CARES FOR FAMILIES. It’s been called that for years at this point.
That’s why I am wondering what the “Grand Opening” is. It has been there for very many years (possibly even in the 90s), and it has been operating under the moniker INOVA CARES FOR FAMILIES for years at this point. I stopped going there last year.
To repeat: there must be more to the story.
There will now be both an Inova Cares for Families (in the new Suite 600) and an Inova Cares for Children (in Suite 850) at 7617 Little River Turnpike.
