It’s Farmers Market Week
Special activities are happening at Mason District Park and Wakefield Park Aug. 10 and 11 for Farmers Market Week.
On Wednesday, Aug, 10, 2-6 p.m., the Wakefield Farmers Market, will host fun and educational activities for families.
Hands On Harvests will teach people how to harvest milkweed seeds. The Fairfax County Library will have a quiz wheel and prizes. The Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling will demonstrate safe biking strategies.
Those activities will also be available Thursday morning at the Annandale Farmers Market at Mason District Park plus a cooking demonstration by the Virginia Cooperative Extension. The Annandale market is open every Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon.
It’s also Bike to Market Week. Check out Fairfax County’s bicycling map to find a safe route to a farmers market.
In addition, Fairfax County is seeking public opinion on the farmers markets. Click here to take a brief survey.
Every week I’m reminded how disappointed I am that the Annandale farmers market is on a Thursday and not the weekend! Those who can attend – enjoy it for me!
