Chad Lehman, the principal of Luther Jackson Middle School, announced Jan. 8 that he is leaving to take on a new job as principal of Centreville High School.

Lehman’s final day at Jackson will be Jan. 11. Assistant Principal Rohini Tohan will serve as acting principal until the next principal is in place.

Over the coming weeks, the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Human Resources Department and FCPS Region 2 Assistant Superintendent Fabio Zuluaga will notify the Jackson community about the process to select a new principal.

“I love LJMS, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this community over the past four and a-half years,” Lehman states in an email to the community. “The decision to leave LJMS was difficult for me, and while I am excited to take this next step, I will miss everything about this school community and the people who make it great.”

“The students are amazing with so many stories to tell, and the growth they make during their time here at LJMS is truly astonishing,” Lehman says. “The educators are second to none, and their passion, dedication, and commitment is truly inspiring. The families are incredibly supportive of the school, and I am grateful for the many ways you partner with the school to help our students and staff achieve success.”

“I am proud of the many accomplishments we have made and the challenges we have overcome,” he continues. “From enhancing our instructional focus to shaping our school culture, this community keeps an open mind and an open heart while ensuring that students are at the forefront of our work.”

Lehman began his FCPS career as a health and physical education teacher at Chantilly High School in 2001. He subsequently served as assistant principal at South Lakes High School.
