Jim Myles wins GOP primary
Republican voters in the 11th congressional district nominated Jim Myles to run against Democratic incumbent Rep. Gerry Connolly in November.
Myles is an Air Force veteran and a former federal judge.
“Republicans, independents, and common-sense Democrats have had enough of the ideological extremism of the progressive Left,” Myles said. He would give parents control over their children’s education and prevent tech companies from censoring social media.
He is pro-life, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a staunch defender of the Second Amendment.
Myles was nominated in an all-day firehouse primary on May 7. He defeated four other candidates through a ranked-choice voting system. There were four rounds of voting with the candidate receiving the fewest votes eliminated in each round.
In the final round, Myles got 59 percent of the vote, while the remaining candidate, Manga Anantatmula, got 41 percent.
Matthew Chappell, who was defeated in the third round, had been accused of sexual harassment and abuse of power while serving as a police officer in Georgia, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported. He lost his state certification as a result of the allegations.

Where are your masks. People die because of no masks. I went to Chipotle today and almost no one was wearing masks. I am fully vaccinated and had 4 boosters. I never felt better in my life. Each time I get covid it is mild. I am thankful for the vaccine and the protection it provides. If I did not get the vaccine and boosters I may have died. All this because of a pangolin which looks like a reptile but is really a delicious stew. Can you imagine if Progresso Rich & Hearty Chicken & Homestyle noodles created a pandemic. Or even a chicken chalupa from Taco Bell. Food can poison the world is the conclusion. Thank Mother Earth for the pharmaceutical companies, Doctor Fauci, President Biden and Vice President Harris who are all doing a wonderful job. Soon we will be done with this virus if we all do our part. Please get boosted and wear your masks because your life depends on it. And your neighbors life depends on it. Even if you dislike your neighbor because maybe your no trophy.
It’s fun to make jokes and I do believe that liberals should be able to laugh at themselves. That being said COVID-19 is not a funny punchline. There are a lot of people that have died from this virus. These people were loved by others and are deeply missed every day. While it is unfortunate that they are treated as just another statistic to Fox News and CNN’s propaganda machine, please do not trivialize the severity of the situation and the empathy of those who want to do the right thing by wearing a mask and protecting others.
