Julianne Moore, a former Falls Church resident, appeared at a “Get Out the Vote” cookout sponsored by the Obama re-election campaign in Brenman Park in Alexandria Saturday. The event was
aimed at encouraging people to vote early.

grew up middle class where we all had an opportunity to succeed,” Moore said. “I
want that for all children and so does President Obama.” She said she was “incredibly insulted” by Mitt Romney’s
comments that indicated he doesn’t care about “the 47 percent” of Americans who
don’t pay income taxes.

Moore
went to JEB Stuart High School for two years in the late 1970s, said her
sister, Valerie Wells, who lives in Loudoun County. Moore “always wanted to be
an actress from the time she was a little girl,” Wells recalled, adding that
her sister was in plays at Stuart. Their father was in the military so the
family moved a lot.

has been nominated for four Oscars and won two Emmy Awards. Among the many movies
she was in: “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” “The Big Lebowski,” “The Forgotten,” “The
End of the Affair,” “The Hours,” “The Kids Are All Right,” and “Crazy Stupid
Love.” Most recently, she portrayed Sarah Palin in the HBO film “Game Change.”

event, which also featured Tina Tchen, director of the White House Office of
Public Engagement, was organized to encourage Obama supporters to vote early.
People are likely to be eligible to vote early—absentee in person—if they will
be out of town for part of the day on Election Day, commute to work and work
long hours, or meet one of the other criteria listed on the Office of Elections
website.

Hey, anon–start your own blog if you want to dictate coverage. Seriously–it is ridiculous to read this comment over and over. It's her blog–and she can cover what she chooses to. It's not like someone won't ever hear of Mitt Romney if he's not featured here.
Really, who cares what this hollywood diva thinks. Also, when you covered a ridiculous Pelosi fundrasier in Tysons, you said at that time you'd cover Republican visits to our area, so where is it? Zippo! Romney's been to Fairfax and Springfield. That's kind of newsworthy.

Thanks for coming clean! Please post this political activity under your profile in "about." You do have a political agenda and it is more than just starting a dialogue as you say. Your profile does not indicate that. Can you suggest an Annandale blog that "covers the other side?" I'll read that instead and stop posting comments here. I'm looking for one that tells me "what is going where" in Annandale sans the irksome political slant that alienates people. I'm just looking for a blog that tells me what is going on here. I'm grateful that you've started and kept this blog going–I know more about what's happening in Annandale than I ever did in more than 10 years of living here pre-blog. Somehow, I don't think your personal politics are going to impact how you cover the Annandale Halloween parade. And if the GOP can have Fox news, I'm glad the Dems at least have Around Annandale!
