The Fairfax County Park Authority has named the baseball facilities at Pine Ridge Park in Annandale the Kehrer Baseball Complex.

The new name honors Darryl and Dawn Kehrer, longtime volunteers with the Annandale-North Springfield Little League (ANSLL).

The late Darryl Kehrer served as an ANSLL and Annandale High School Boosters volunteer for a combined 29 years and served three years as ANSLL president.

During his presidency, he led the ANSLL board in a contentious fight to save the league’s Pine Ridge Park flagship complex from commercial development.

On behalf of ANSLL volunteers, Kehrer co-accepted the prestigious 1997 Fairfax County Park Authority Elly Doyle Award for outstanding service to the park.

Dawn Kehrer volunteered in various capacities to maintain and improve the ballfields for three decades.

The new name was officially adopted at a ceremony April 16 at Pine Ridge Park attended by Park Authority and Fairfax County officials, along with ANSLL leaders, parents, and team members.
