Libraries offer extensive digital services

George Mason Library is closed but lots of online resources available from Fairfax County Public Libraries.

All Fairfax County Public Libraries remain closed until further notice, but there are plenty of digital programs under way for all ages, including yoga, book discussions, kids’ crafts, and more. (Many of these events are listed on the blog calendar.)

The Summer Reading program will take place June 12-Aug. 14, and the theme is “Imagine Your Story.” This year, it will be a virtual program for children and adults. More information will be available in early June.

The Ask Your Library online chat service is available to customers Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5:45 p.m. Customers may submit emails at any time when the service is offline.
The library also offers a wealth of resources online, including ebooks, eMagazines, eAudiobooks, Tumblebook read-along books for kids, videos for kids, language instruction, online courses, SAT prep, databases, genealogical resources, home improvement resources, and homework help.
Wi-Fi can be accessed in library branch parking lots 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
In other library updates;
  • Overdue fines are suspended and due dates for all physical materials will continue to be extended to ensure that no late fees accrue while libraries are closed.
  • All meeting room reservations are cancelled through June 30.
  • Hold pickup dates will be extended while the library is closed.
  • No new interlibrary loan requests will be processed; current interlibrary loan requests will remain in production.
  • No donated materials will be accepted while the library is closed.
