Libraries to offer curbside pickups

George Mason Regional Library in Annandale.

The Fairfax County Public Library system will begin curbside pickup of holds and grab bags on Monday, June 1.

Curbside pickup is available at all branches, including George Mason Regional Library in Annandale and Woodrow Wilson Library in Bailey’s Crossroads, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, FCPL’s curbside services are completely contactless. There will be no physical interactions with library staff.
To pick up materials on hold, park in the designated area on the library’s lot and call the branch phone number posted on the sign. Provide your library card number to staff on the phone and remain in your car until your holds have been deposited on the pickup table and library staff have returned to the building.
Library patrons can also request a particular book or a staff-selected grab bag based on reading level and preferences by calling the branch in advance.
Libraries will begin accepting borrowed books and other materials on June 1. All returned library materials should be deposited in the book drop at any library, not on the pickup table.
To help us accommodate the return of the 500,000 items currently on loan, returns will be accepted on a staggered basis according to the first letter of the borrower’s last name:
  • Mondays – A-H
  • Wednesdays – I-Q
  • Fridays – R-Z
There’s no rush to return borrowed items, as overdue fines are suspended and due dates are being extended as long as the libraries are closed.
Library users should keep their materials received via interlibrary loan until notified by staff that libraries are ready to accept them.
