Lidl to host a pop-up market the weekend before it opens

Construction of the new Lidl store in Annandale is almost finished.

The grocery new Lidl grocery store coming to Pinecrest Plaza will host a pop-up market outside the store on Sept. 5 and 6 ahead of the grand opening on Sept. 9.

The pop-up market will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on both days in the store’s parking lot at 6548 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. 

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:40 a.m. on Sept. 9. The first 100 customers will receive a Lidl gift card worth anywhere from $5 to $100. There will also be a chance to win a $500 gift card. 

Lidl is hiring store associates for the Pinecrest Plaza location. The job pays $14 an hour. 

The new grocery store will be in a long-vacant storefront that formerly housed Staples, and before that, Whole Foods.
